VanTrust Breaks Ground on New Project in Columbus

Located adjacent to Bolton Field, completion of the speculative building is expected by second quarter of 2023.

VanTrust recently broke ground on a speculative project known as Bolton One, at the corner of Alkire Road and Norton Road, adjacent to Bolton Field Airport, in Columbus. The proposed warehouse is unrelated to the airport and will not be intended for airport use. It will encompass a 332,515-square-foot building set on 24.52 acres and contain 33 dock door locations with a 32-foot clear height. The project will benefit from a 10-year, seventy-five percent enterprise tax abatement, and is expected to be completed by the second quarter of 2023.

“This area of Columbus has been overlooked far too long, and we believe it is an ideal location for industrial development because of its close proximity to highway access, surrounding amenities for future employees and an available labor force,” said Brice Harrison, director of development at VanTrust. “We are looking forward to getting this land in production and, while only one building is planned at this time, we have plenty of room for a second, build-to-suit opportunity on the site, as well.”

Columbus Mayor Andrew Ginther voiced his enthusiasm for the project. “VanTrust is a leading developer in our region, with numerous ongoing projects. Its commitment to move forward with this exciting development on the west side of Columbus is further evidence that the City’s investments in infrastructure, work force and economic development are paying off.”

The speculative warehouse is being built on excess acreage not currently in use and made available to VanTrust for development by the Columbus Regional Airport Authority (CRAA).

The general contractor for the project is Pepper Construction. RED Architecture is the design partner, with Mile Hurd and Beau Taggart of Cushman Wakefield serving as Landlord Representatives.
