It’s with a heavy heart that we announce the death of Ross Carrier, Vice President of development in our Jacksonville office, on January 17, 2019, following a short battle with pancreatic cancer.
Ross joined the VanTrust family in 2017 after almost 30 years in commercial real estate throughout Florida and South Carolina. Over the course of his successful career, Ross completed more than 10 million square feet in transactions and worked on major projects in Jacksonville including Flagler Development Company’s 40 building portfolio and the 2.5 million square foot Waterford at Blue Lagoon project in Miami.
Ross was a kind and joyous family man who enjoyed engaging in conversation with everyone he met. After losing his wife Deedy of 32 years to cancer in 2014, Ross spent his time devoted to his four children and three grandchildren. They remember him as a generous and respected businessman and father who loved his family without parallel.
“Ross and I worked together for almost 20 years,” John Carey, Executive Vice President, said. “He was a valued colleague and dear friend. While his business accomplishments are significant, it’s his character as a fine human being that shined even brighter. He was truly the kindest, most compassionate individual I have ever met. His spirit radiated a sense of peace and contentment that is truly rare. We will miss him.”
