VanTrust Real Estate, along with representatives from the Hillsborough County Aviation Authority, participated in a groundbreaking ceremony today for the development of the first commercial office building to be connected to the Tampa International Airport. The 9-story Class A office building is the first project in the airport’s planned 35-acre SkyCenter commercial development. VanTrust Real Estate was awarded the project in April 2019. The 270,000 square-foot office building will be linked to Tampa International Airport’s main terminal by the SkyConnect train. Other features include a 1,291-space parking garage, conference center, fitness center, café and access to multi-purpose trails that will eventually join with Tampa Bay’s regional trail network. The project is scheduled to be completed in the spring of 2021. “Van Trust is proud to be a part of Tampa International Airport’s SkyCenter development project. This state-of-the-art office building is ideally suited for a wide range of companies seeking a premier location within the Tampa International Airport and easy connectivity to the surrounding metro areas,” said John Carey, executive vice president of VanTrust Real Estate, Florida. VanTrust Real Estate hired HOK as the designer of the office building and J.E. Dunn as the builder. Future plans for the SkyCenter development also include two hotels, shops, a convenience store and gas station.
