Sandy has over 22 years of experience in commercial real estate, much of that acting as outside counsel for developers. At VanTrust, Sandy will provide legal services to VanTrust’s offices nationwide and will provide development services to VanTrust’s Phoenix office.

Prior to joining VanTrust in 2015, Sandy was a Shareholder at Gallagher & Kennedy, P.A., one of Arizona’s largest full-service law firms. He served as the head of Gallagher & Kennedy’s Real Estate Transactional Group from 2008 until he joined VanTrust. Sandy has experience in all types of commercial real estate transactions, including transactions relating to mixed-use, office, industrial, multi-family residential and retail properties. He also has extensive experience in negotiation and drafting commercial lease agreements, commercial purchase and sale agreements (for both improved and unimproved property), commercial financing documents, development agreements, easements, CC&Rs and other types of agreements required for all manner of commercial real estate transactions. Sandy has handled transactions on several Indian communities in both Arizona and California. He has negotiated leases with national retail tenants, assisted borrower clients with securitized loans, synthetic leases and joint venture agreements and has foreclosed and enforced secured loans.

Sandy has a Bachelor of Science in Business Economics from the University of Arizona and a Juris Doctorate, Summa Cum Laude, from the University of Arizona College of Law. He is a member of the Board of Directors of The Tungland Corporation, which provides support services for children, adolescents, adults and elders, ranging from residential community-based services, day treatment programs, in-home respite, habilitation and attendant care to specialized living arrangements, foster or host homes, counseling, consulting, and employment/vocational support services. He has served as an allocations volunteer with the Valley of the Sun United Way.

Sandy is also a member of the State Bar of Arizona, Real Property Section and Indian Law Section; a member of the Federalist Society for Law and Public Policy Studies, and a member of the Real Estate Investment Advisory Council (REIAC).
