Rickenbacker 717 is located in the heart of the Rickenbacker submarket on Rohr Road in Columbus, Ohio. Rickenbacker 717 is a ±717,000-square-foot bulk distribution center that broke ground in April 2014 and was completed in the Spring of 2015. The project offers lowered operating costs and efficiency through a modernized facility. Located in the center of the The warehouse stands 32′ tall with 50′ by 60′ column spacing. Rickenbacker 717 is very versatile with 360 car parking spots, 70 truck docks and 4 drive-in doors on a 38-acre site. The warehouse is outfitted with energy saving, T-5 motion sensing light fixtures as well as an efficient roof and wall system creating valuable cost-savings to the owner. Rickenbacker 717 features multiple transportation options including: highway, air, rail, and major delivery systems as well as unparalleled tax incentives approved for 15-year, 100% real estate tax abatement.
One large challenge of Rickenbacker 717 was keeping the schedule on track despite the most spring rain and the harshest winter Columbus has recorded in over 25 years . The site was designed to maximize the use of on-site soil. This was accomplished through sheet draining storm water runoff to interconnected storm water retention basins. Pepper Construction managed the construction of the project and RED Architecture + Planning LLC was the architect on the project.
