Kiewit is a Fortune 500 company and one of the largest construction and engineering firms in North America. Kiewit wanted to combine several Kansas City-area offices into a single campus. Kiewit recognized the opportunity for this office project to support its culture and goals for growth, recruiting, and retention in addition to creating new space efficiencies.

VanTrust developed this regional headquarters building, which is located in the Lenexa City Center mixed-use development. Working with a design-build team that included HOK and JE Dunn Construction, the six-story office building has a total of 182,000 square feet and a 1,300-stall parking garage in addition to public, on-street parking. The team reimagined the entry experience to honor Kiewit’s craft and culture. The project includes flexibility for future expansion within the campus master plan. The open layout enables Kiewit’s employees to collaborate in daylit, highly flexible offices.

Other spaces include conference and training rooms, an auditorium, a full-service cafeteria and a coffee shop. The campus fosters place-making and connections to the community. The nearby Lenexa City Center, including shops, restaurants, trails, a library and an aquatic center, are all within walking distance.
